We recognise that training and development professionals may have taken various qualification routes over the years and this variety, coupled with the combination of qualifications that many have achieved, make it impossible to be prescriptive about membership grade. Each application for membership is carefully considered by our admissions panel and a wide variety of qualifications have been accepted as meeting the membership requirements.

- ITOL Diploma in Training & Occupational Learning
- ITD Diploma in Training Management
- Advanced Diploma in Training & Development - Civil Service College
- NTO or TDLB S/NVQ at level 5
- Masters Degree in Training & Development (various Universities)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Training & Development (various Universities)
Licentiate FELLOW
- ITOL Advanced Certificate in Training & Occupational Learning
- Bachelors degree in Training and Development (or similar titles).
- Certificate in Education (adult learning)
- NTO or TDLB S/NVQ at level 4
MEMBER
- ITOL Certificate in Training and Occupational Learning
- CIPD Certificate in Training Practice
- ITD Certificate in Training & Development
- City & Guilds 730 Further & Adult Education Teachers Certificate and similar
- RSA Teacher & Trainer Awards at Diploma level
- Training Officer Certificate (various inc Training Boards)
ASSOCIATE MEMBER
- ITOL Foundation Certificate in Direct Training
- At least 2 units of the NTO or TDLB S/NVQ
- STA Instructors Certificate
- Training Board Instructor Certificate (various)
- MSC Workplace Trainers Award
- City & Guilds 924 and similar
- RSA Teacher & Trainer Awards at Certificate level
